How can I check the version of the guest OS I am currently using?

Please try the procedures shown below to check the version for the operating system that you are using.

There are also valuable information on supports and vulnerability (as of March 2015).

When operating RedHat Linux:

Check the content of this file:

/etc/redhat-release

Ex.

#
#cat /etc/redhat-release
Red Hat Linux release 7.2 (Enigma)
#
#

In this case, RedHat Linux 7.2 is operating.

Note: The result of each commands and accessibility to the files differs according to the setting of each OS.
Please check the setting before proceeding.

When operating Windows:

Please check using the winver command.

Ex.

C:UsersAAA>winver

A new window will pop, and the version information will show.
In this case, Windows7 Service pack 1 is operating.
