11.2.7.1. How To Check Machine Status

Here, a check method of the state will be introduced for Citrix Netscaler VPX.

System State Check

Top Screen of [ Dashboard ] tab

You can check CPU/Memory Usage, Throughput, and HTTP request.

Packet CPU Usage: CPU Usage allocated for packet transfer.
Management CPU Usage: CPU Usage allocated for management of GUI/CLI, etc.
InUse Memory: Amount of memory currently in use.
Throughput: Amount of IN/OUT traffic (entire device)
HTTP Requests/s: Amount of HTTP Request (entire device)

In addition to the similar information, the number of TCP Connections and HTTP Request/Response information can be checked in the System Overview of the Top Screen as well.

Interface status check

Tab「Configuration」 System > Network > Interfaces**On the [ **Configuration ] tab, [ System ] → [ Network ] → [ Interfaces ]

You can check the MAC Address, Uptime, Up/Down status, etc.

On the [ Dashboard ] tab, click [ System Overview ] → select [ Interfaces ] from the pull-down menu

Here, you can check Up/Down status, traffic through IF, etc.

If you want to check further details, select ID of the IF.

You can check the type of received packets, and error counters.

VRRP status check

Tab「Configuration」 System > Network > VMAC

You can check your own VRRP status.

Note

  • Though it will be also displayed when VRRP is received from surrounding devices, there will be no impact unless the same VRID is set to yourself.

  • In this case of display, ID 11 is the one. As the State becomes to INIT, communication will not be affected.

Check Virtual Server State

Tab「Configuration」 Traffic Management > Load Balancing > Virtual Servers

You can check Up/Down status of the Virtual Server that is set, summary of contents of the setting, and Health Check status.

On the [ Dashboard ] tab, click [ System Overview ] → select [ Load Balancing ] from the pull-down menu

Here, you can check Up/Down status, the number of Hits to the Virtual Server, amount of through traffic, etc.

You can check the detailed request information that reached the Virtual Server selected, and State of bound Service and Service Group.

Service Group Status Check

Tab「Configuration」 Traffic Management > Load Balancing > Service Groups**On the [ **Configuration ] tab, move to [ Traffic Management ] → [ Load Balancing ] → [ Services Groups ]

You can check Up/Down status of the Service Group that is set, summary of contents of the setting.

You can check the status of the members bound by selecting [ Service Group ] and then [ Manage Members ].

On the [ Dashboard ] tab, click [ System Overview ] → select [ Service Groups ] from the pull-down menu

Service Group will be displayed.

If you select a Name of the Service Group that you want to check the details, you can see Up/Down status, and the number of Requests and Connections.

By selecting a Member Name, you can check the number of requests and connections, of each member.

Service Status Check

Tab「Configuration」 Traffic Management > Load Balancing > Services

You can check Up/Down status of the Service that is set, summary of contents of the setting.

The Service will be displayed.

If you select a Name of the Service that you want to check the details, you can see the status of the number of Requests and Connections.

Connection Table Check

**Tab「Configuration」System > TCP/IP connections in Diagnostics "Monitor Connections" **

It displays the Connection Table managed by the Load Balancer.

Select [ View all connections ], and click [ Continue ].

The Connection Table managed by the Load Balancer will be outputted.

Check of TCP Connection Details

On the [ Dashboard ] tab, click [ System Overview ] → select [ TCP ] from the pull-down menu

You can check the details of the connection that reaches the Load Balancer.

You can check the total amount of TCP packets sent/received. If you select [ Details ] in the upper right, you can check the details of the TCP connection further.

Check of the Certificate

Traffic Management > SSL > SSL Certificates

You can check the certificates installed to the Load Balancer.

You can check the certificates/secret keys/CSR stored in the Load Balancer.

Note

The Specifications of the Service inhibit contents check/deletion/downloading of the certificates stored on the Load Balancer (NetScaler VPX).

As certificates created on the NetScaler are not downloadable to our side due to the specifications above, operation check is conducted by importing certificates created on an external server to the NetScaler.

However, as you cannot check contents of, delete, or download certificates once imported to the Load Balancer (NetScaler VPX), we would recommend to store the certificates in the environment of your side in case of need for re-importing the certificate such as when rebuilding.

Log Check

Tab「Configuration」 System > Auditing

You can check the system logs.

Log Levels: Customer can select log level to be output in case of selecting CUSTOM.
Number of Audit Messages to be shown: Number of lines to output.

You can check Syslog also on the Top Screen. There, the output is limited for logs of “notice” level or above.
