10.2.9. Migration between Different Versions¶
This section describes the procedure for changing the firewall (redundant configuration) in use to the new firewall version (redundant configuration).
Operations have been checked by NTT Communications, in terms of the following combinations of versions.
The following two methods are available for the migration
(Characteristics of method 1)
-The new firewall version does not take over the IP address used by the old version and uses a new IP address after the migration.
-The redundancy cancel time is shorter than method 2.
-The time needed for switching back is shorter than method 2.
(Characteristics of method 2)
-The new firewall version takes overs the IP address used by the old version and uses that IP address after the migration.
-However, because the MAC address is not taken over, the old MAC address of the ARP table on the communications route and the opposite machine needs to be updated if communications fail.
-The redundancy cancel time is longer than method 1.
-The time needed for switching back is longer than method 1.
