13.2. Use Backup

13.2.1. Setting up a Backup Plan.

Click [ Manage Client ] from [ Workflow ].
After selecting [ Change Service Plan ], click [ OK ] at the screen.

Select backup target server from [Active Client].

Please select from the Single-site / Doble-site.
When “Double save” is selected, the display will go to the “Select region” screen and the same items will be set thereafter.

Select a specific storage period from [Retention days] (7 days, 30 days and 365 days).
For example, select [ Single7 ] to 7 days storage, [ Single30 ] to 30 days storage, and [ Single365 ] to 365 days storage, respectively.

Check backup target server selected from [Active Client] and [Service Plan] , then click the [OK] button.
Note, at the [Service Plan] , “Single store 7” means storing 7days, “Single store 30” storing 30 days, “Single store 365” storing backup data 365 days.

Select a specific backup cycle.
Click [ Manage Client ] from [ Workflow ].
After selecting [ Change Client Schedule Window ], click [ OK ] at the screen.

In “Select Client”, select the client you want to modify.

Select Daily, Weekly or OnDemandOnly as backup cycle, then click at [OK] button.
When select [ OnDemandOnly ], the [ Immediate ] pricing plan will be applied.

[ Example]: Selecting the Immediate Plan
Select [OnDemandOnly] from [Schedule period], then click [OK].
Displayed settings on [Schedule Period] (Daily, Weekly, OnDemand) at [Current schedule].

Check backup target server selected from [Active Client] and [Schedule period] , then click the [OK] button.

You can verify the setting details on your backup by selecting a specific server from the personal data.
If you have selected the Immediate plan, the schedule field will become a blank at the displayed screen.

■ System backup for Windows server

For system backup, be sure to set the “Manage System State (Windows Client only)”.
When this setting is uncompleted, System Restore cannot be implemented.
This setting is not required if system backup or system restore is not required.
Click [ Manage Client ] from [ Workflow ].
After selecting [Manage System State(Windows Client only) ], click [ OK ] at the screen.

Note

This setting is not necessary because Windows 2016 does not support system backup and restore. Use the default value (false).

Select a target server for the Client. After selecting [ True ], click the [ OK ] button.

Check backup target server selected from [Client] and settings of System State(True/False) , then click at [OK] button.

When the setting is completed, click the [ OK ] button.

13.2.2. Specifying Backup Target File(s)

Click [ Edit ] of the relevant backup target file(s).

To specify a target file directly, click [ Edit ] at [ Backup Content ].
To specify a file to be excluded directly , click [ Edit ] at [ Exclude These Files/Folders/Patterns from Backup ].

■ In case of using System Restore (boot volume including OS only)

If there is any possibility to use System Restore, specify only backslash () for Windows server or slash (/) for Linux server as a backup target.
Please remind that System Restore is not available when other targets are specified even if the targets include backslash (for Windows) or slash (for Linux).
Press the “+ Enter Custom Path” icon to specify a direct path or the “folder” icon to browse and select.

Select a folder or file and click the “Select” button.

Once you can verify the target settings, click [ Save ] after selecting the [ Done ] button.
To delete a folder or file, select the target folder or file and press the “x” icon.

13.2.3. How to Execute “Backup Now”.

Press “More” of the backup target server from the computer list.

Click the [ Backup Now ] button at [ Next Backup ] as pictured below:

As below, you can view the current backup status.
Besides, you can also abort the current backup under backup execution.

13.2.4. How to Execute “Scheduled Backup”

Click [ Manage Client ] from [ Workflow ].
After selecting [ Change Client Schedule Window ], click [ OK ] at the screen.

Select backup target server from [Client].

If you intent to set up a specific backup schedule, click [ OK ] by selecting either [ Daily ] or [ Weekly ] as shown below:
[ Example 1. ] : Setting up Daily to your backup schedule.
Select [Daily] from [Schedule period], then click [OK].

Select a specific date and a start point time (UTC) at [Backup Schedule]

[ Example 2.]: Setting up **Weekly to your backup schedule.**
Select [Weekly] from [Schedule period], then click [OK].

Select a specific date and a start point time (UTC) at [Backup Schedule].

Check backup target server selected from [Client] and date and a start point time set at [Backup Schedule], then click [OK] button.

You can check the backup settings by pressing “More” of the target server from the computer list.

In case when you wish to change backup schedule, please follow this procedure.
Backup history is available at [Recent Backup Job].

When you execute the backup without settings (menu and plan), the contents of the failed backup won’t appear.

■ Manage Client Scripts

Script execution is available at the timing of before scanning or backup or after backup of the target file.
Click [ Manage Client ] from [ Workflow ].
After selecting [ Manage Client Scripts], click [ OK ] at the screen.
Edit scripts and commands as necessary. Click the [ OK ] button after editing.

Supported command and scripts
  • For Linux: Scripts such as shell, ruby, python, and Linux commands.

  • For Windows: Powershell script and Windows commands such as batch script and cmd.exe. Some executable command prompts such as “echo” require to execute the following:

    C:\Windows\System32\cmd.exe /C “echo test”
