3.4.1. Backup

This configuration guide provides an example of backup procedures that uses Arcserve installed on Red Hat Enterprise Linux.

Open the browser on Arcserve installed Linux server or other server which can access to Linux server.
Access to https ://[IP address of Linux server installed Arcserve]:8014
Login screen will be displayed. Then, click “Login” after input root account and its credential.

After login, registration screen will be displayed.
To add linux server, click on [Add Node]

Select [Hostname/IP Address]

Input Hostname/IPaddress, User name, Password on [Add Node] screen.
In this example, we input root account on this server and its credential.
Click on “Add and Close”.

After verification is completed, move back to previous screen. You make sure IP address of linux server has been add on [Node Name] column.

On the [Node] tab, right click on the target Linux server and click on [Backup].

Open the Backup Wizard. Click on [Next]

Click [Next] after make sure the target server is selected.

Specify the storage location for the backup data.
In this example, the backup data will be stored on virtual server(Windows), therefore select “CIFS share” and input IP addree and folder name in full path.
NOTE: “¥”” can be input as “/”
After input the value, click on “→”

Authentication to connect the server which store backup data will be required. You need to input username and password, then click on “OK”.

Once connection has been established, move back to previous screen. Then click [Next]
Configure scheduling. If you wish to take schedule backup, configure the schedule.
In this example, backup will take manually, so select None in Schedule Type.


Click on [Next] after configure Recovery Set settings if you needed.
In this example, default settings applied.

Display configuration Summary. Then, pless [Submit].

Back to management screen, and makesure Backup job configured and displayed on [Job Status] tab.

Select configured Job, then click on [Run Now]

Select Backup type. In this example, select “Full Backup”.
After selecting, click on [OK]

Backup job will start. And Job status is displayed on [Status] like following.

Once backup job completed, displayed “Done” on [Status].

The detail of backup job can be checked on [Job history].

You can see time line of backup job on [Job History].

You need to make sure backup data exists on the backup server with folder named IP address.

Backup data stored under directory.
