Windows Server

  • Official Image Template
    Customers are provided with the official image template of Windows Server which is applicable for respectively Baremetal Server, Virtual Server, and Dedicated Hypervisor.
  • Service Provider Licensing
    Customers are provided with SPLA; i.e., Service Provider License Agreement for the use of Windows Server License.
    *Please refer to the following Service Description as with the official template of non-activated Windows Server license on Barematal server environment, which is suitable for bringing Customers’ own license to cloud environment (BYOL).

Server / Dedicated Hypervisor menu available for Windows

  • When Customers utilize Windows Server with Server / Dedicated Hypervisor, following two ways are available: 1. To utilize Official Image Template; 2. To bring their own OS image.

  • Following is how Customers utilize Windows Server with Server / Dedicated Hypervisor respectively.

Note

In case customer bring your own Windows Server image to Virtual server,
Please utilize License Switch function on Image Storage.
By using license switch, the Windows Server license on the virtual server will be changed to the license form “SPLA” provided by NTTCom.
Please note that if you use Windows Server with the image brought in by the customer without using the license switch function, it will be a license violation.
In addition, if it is discovered that the image brought in by the customer is being used without switching the license, the difference will be charged retroactively at the start of use.
Customer’s BYOL and License Switch function support only Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2012.

*In case Customers utilize Dedicated Hypervisor via Hyper-V menu, the Host OS is Windows Server, but this document describes the details of Windows Server as a Guest OS.

Features

  • On-Demand
    Customers can subscribe official image template of Windows Server with Baremetal and/or Virtual Server via Customer Portal / API.
    Regarding how to use the official image template of Windows with Dedicated Hypervisor, please refer to the service descriptions of Dedicated Hypervisor and Guest image.
  • Immediate Start of Service
    Customers can utilize Windows Server immediately without procure their own Provider License.

Details

Customers can set their optional values via Customer Portal / API.
Furthermore, if the space is left vacant, random values will be entered.

When the server is initially logged in, optional values can be set.

Terms and Conditions

Conditions for Usage with Other Services

  • This menu must be combined with either two menus:

    1.Combined either of Baremetal Server / Virtual Server for subscription
    2.Customers are required to make a request for subscribing Dedicated Hypervisor first, and then place an order for this menu separately.
  • In order for Customers to activate OS License, Customers are required to obtain common functionality of Gateways.
    When Customers are to utilize Windows Server, please request for subscription.
    OS license authentication will not be available if Customers disconnect Common Function Gateway where Windows Server’s OS license authentication has done.
    As such, please keep in mind not to disconnect it.
  • In the event that Customers utilize NTP Server that is provided in this service, they will essentially be required to obtain the Common Function Gateway. If Customers would like to request such, they are suggested that they request for subscription.
    If they wish to utilize that, they should call in for inquiry.
  • An Internet connection is required for Windows Update. Please apply for Internet connectivity if you want to execute Windows Update.
  • An Internet connection is required to install .NET Framework 3.5 on Windows Server 2012 R2. If you want to install .NET Framework 3.5, please apply for Internet connectivity.
    (Internet connection is not required for Windows Server-2012R2_Standard_64_include-license_virtual-server_42, Windows Server 2016, and Windows Server 2019.)

  • This service does not require Minimum Use Period.

  • This service does not require Initial Fees.


Monthly Fee

  • Billing structures do differ depending upon what Server / Dedicated Hypervisor the Customers would like to utilize.


Baremetal Server

  • Billing:
    Fixed Monthly billing is applied.
  • Scope of Billing:
    It is a bare metal server used at least once a month.
    *For subscriptions of Baremetal Server(s) which Customers utilize concurrently will also be charged.
    *In case Customers delete and re-create Baremetal Server within the same month, the monthly fee of this menu will be based on the total quantity of Baremetal Servers utilized by Customers.
    *The charge of this menu differs depending on the baremetal server flavor, OS version and edition. Please refer to the price list for details.

Virtual Server

  • Billing:
    Metered billing per minute with uppermost maximum caps per month is applied. Two-step caps is applied.
  • Scope of Billing:
    Instance that is attached to Volume where OS License is stored is the corresponding subject of the bill.
    NOTE: In the event that this menu’s Official Image Template OS is stored within a Volume and is attached multiply to one Instance, this menu’s basic billing is added depending upon the number of Volume.
    NOTE: Based on the Flavor for the Instance that is being attached with Volume(s), this menu’s billing will shift.
    NOTE: Relations amongst Instance, Volume, and Virtual Server’s Instance Flavor, please refer to the Virtual Server Service Description:

  • Even in the event that Customers request Support with regards to the reports of failure, errors or any troubles Customers face at installation, Setup, basic functioning, NTTCom will not activate Support Service (which includes investigation, troubleshooting, and technical advice).

Restrictions

  • In the event that the Customers utilize Windows Server for other use than this Menu, they are prohibited to utilize OS Licensing Authentication Server (that is KMS Server) which NTTCom provides.
    *Customers are also prohibited from creating virtual machines separately for Windows OS (including Windows Server OS) in Baremetal Server by turning Hyper-V Functions on for Windows Server.
    NOTE: In the event that the Customers would like to utilize the Server described in the above manner, Customers are recommended that they utilize Dedicated Hypervisor Menu.
  • As Customers utilize this menu, Customers are notified that they have agreed to the details of Microsoft Services Provider Use Rights (SPUR). For the details, please refer to the following URL for the details.

    *Please see to the most updated version of Service Provider Use Rights (SPUR).
  • Be sure to connect to the common function gateway as you will not be able to charge properly.
    If it is found that the billing is not correct at a later date , the difference will be billed retroactively at the start of use.
  • Since it violates the terms of use of SPLA and it will not be possible to charge properly, it is prohibited to upgrade the OS major version of guest images on dedicated hypervisor, virtual server, bare metal server, created from the official image template.
    If it is found that the billing is not correct at a later date , the difference will be billed retroactively at the start of use.
  • Use Arcserve to back up your Windows Server. Please refer to the link below for the OS that can be backed up by Arcserve.
  • The following are not supported for backup services.
    ・Windows Server 2019
    ・Windows Server 2016 installed on General Purpose 2 v3 and General Purpose 3 v3 of bare metal servers
    Please refer to the link below for the OS that can be backed up by the backup service.
  • Network load balancing is not supported on Virtual servers, Dedicated Hypervisors.

  • In the case of Windows Server 2012 R2 or Windows Server 2016, storage pool and storage space direct are not available.

  • NTT Com does not support the OS version that Microsoft support is expired. And NTT Com does not extend such expiration dates.

  • When using a failover cluster with a virtual server, it is necessary to change the settings.
