10.5.1. Menu Overview

10.5.1.1. Overview

  • This menu is a service that enables Customers to use IBM i, AIX operating system, IBM software license audit (license audit) by ILMT, EDI function (external connection gateway) by using Collocation Inter-Connectivity (CIC) of NI+C Cloud Power provided by Nippon Information & Communication Corporation (hereafter NI+C) and ECL2.0.

  • IBM, POWER, Power, Power and Power Systems are trademarks of International Business Machines Corporation.

10.5.1.2. Features of the menu

  • It can connect Windows / Linux web and application servers deployed on ECL2.0 with IBM i and AIX by high-speed and low-latency L2 connection.

10.5.2. Available Functions

10.5.2.1. IBM i

  • It provides a compute environment consisting of CPU, memory, LPAR of assigned disk capacity, LAN port, IBM i Operating System (version: V7R2, V7R3).

  • This service will hand over QSECOFR which is the IBM i Operating System Provisioning User Profile, to the customer. After the hand-over, from the system security viewpoint, Service Provider will not manage the password of this account.

  • Just in case Service Provider has to login to IBM i / AIX for representative work or troubleshooting support, Customers are requested to create a user profile (NCOMOPE) in advance for maintenance by Service Provider.

  • The corresponding user profile should be “disabled” during the period when Customers do not want to permit Service Provider to login, and should be switched to “active” by Customers at the time of work approval. Customers are requested to manage the password for NCOMOPE user profile when it is disabled, and to change the password to the one written in the Service Start Guide and notify it to Service Provider at the time of work approval.

  • In this service, Service Provider applies PTF to IBM i operating system depends on customer’s request. Customer needs to create a user profile temporary and send it to Service Provider for representative work.

  • This service provides installation service on Customers’ behalf, of LAN console application (V7R2:IBM i Access for Windows , V7R3:Access Client Solutions) used for administration work such as restricted state of IBM i to Customers’ ECL compute resources.

  • IBM i includes the following license.

10.5.2.5. Operation support

IBM i

  • Periodically checks the error log of the OS and dedicated function section and notifies by e-mail in case of abnormality. (Check error log)

  • Always stores performance data (usage situation of CPU, memory, disk, and NW) for one day, and acquires usage situation of monthly peak day specified by user to confirm that the recommended values are not exceeded. If exceeded, notifies by email. (Periodic performance check)

AIX

  • Monitors usage rate of CPU, memory and disk. Checks if set threshold values are exceeded. Notifies by email if exceeded. (Periodic performance monitoring)

10.5.2.6. LTO tape mount

  • Performs the task of mounting the LTO on which Customers have saved the data for migration onto the Power Compute Resources (up to 2 times, initial + difference).

  • It can be used for IBMi and AIX.

10.5.2.7. External connection gateway

  • It provides gateway functions for EDI to exchange transaction information etc. with business partner companies.

  • Customers can convert and interconnect the protocol (server connection) with IBM i / AIX provided by this service and the protocol (external connection) with business partner. Selectable protocols are as follows.

Classification

  • If the customer needs to change the form of the data format, the customer can provide an external connection to the format change service (EDIPACK service) provided by NI + C. (Separately, a contract between the customer and NI + C is necessary)

  • The INS line the customer uses is a shared line under the name of NI + C.

  • Please use this menu for HULFT license itself. https://ecl.ntt.com/en/documents/service-descriptions/rsts/hulft.html

10.5.2.8. License audit report

  • This service creates an audit report every month of IBM i or AIX provided by this service and of IBM software licenses installed on ECL 2.0 Dedicated Hyper Visor and on Windows and RHEL on Virtual Machines on Dedicated Hyper Visor.

  • Providing this menu is only available if your IBM Software Passport Advantage contract is contracted via NI + C.

  • In case of interconnection using ECL2.0 and ECL2.0 CIC, IBM software licenses purchased as sub-capacity licenses and installed on ECL 2.0 Hyper Visor and on Windows and RHEL on Virtual Machines can be the target of the audit report.

  • Service Provider collects the information necessary for audit every month between this service using the IBM License Metric Tool (hereafter ILMT) and the ILMT agent application and provides an audit report file. Customers can download the file by FTP connection.

  • Subscription of ILMT server will be accepted for every one hundred (100) agents.

  • Installation and configuration of the ILMT agent application should be made by Customers.

  • This service will create a report on the premise that the agent operates normally. When the customer stops the agent etc, it may not be able to acquire the information correctly.

  • Depending on the specifications of ILMT software, the contents of the provided report may differ from the actual application types and applications to be audited. If modification of the audit report is required, please contact the Information Window.

  • Version upgrade of the license audit server will be made separately on a chargeable basis according to Customers’ judgment. Information on version upgrade will be notified in a file in the download folder for the audit report.

  • In this service, Service Provider doesn’t guarantee the generation storage of the reports that Service Provider provides, so Customers are advised to download, save and manage the reports on their own responsibility.

  • When providing this menu, it is necessary to conclude “Agreement on Program Access by Third Party” by Customers, IBM Japan Ltd. and Nippon Information Technology Corporation in order to obtain license of ILMT software by Service Provider.

  • Service Provider will start the procedure after receiving the subscription order of this menu. The number of days required for concluding this agreement is not included in the delivery date.

10.5.5. Terms And Conditions

  • For the Power Compute resource, select one compute resource type for each logical partition (LPAR). However, except for the pool type.

  • The compute resource type is a standard in which the compute resource allocated to 1 LPAR is fixed and a burst type that can utilize CPU resources exceeding the set amount to LPAR according to availability of the service equipment at best effort is selected.

  • In case of selection to pool to the compute resource type, allocation of CPU, memory, ASP/disk to LPAR can be set arbitrary within the range between the upper and lower limits, in the same unit as the additional resource pool.

  • Pool type and other types can not be mixed in one server segment.

  • If the customers are already using ECL and there are no unused segments, the customers need to sign an additional segment for this service.

  • To use IBM i, ECL compute resource which enables configuration and use of LAN console environment, and contract of Windows license are required.

  • CPW refers to the CPW value of currently available Power8 processors. When CPU changes, the additional unit may be changed.

  • Service Provider designates the name of LPAR.
