Oracle FAQ
License purchase rule¶
With menu for BM/DH, the targets of license purchase are as follows.
Attention
Please carefully check the rules set forth below and determine your purchase license and quantity.
In the same baremetal server cluster, vCPU charge and physical CPU charge cannot be used together. Select one of charging methods.
When using Physical CPU Charge method¶
The target of charge will be the baremetal server that the Oracle software runs on.
Note
Oracle Client will not be the target of charge.
Oracle Database Standard Edition 2 and Oracle Database Enterprise Edition are available.
The license fee will be charged upon the number of physical CPUs (CPU socket or CPU core number) in the baremetal server used in Baremetal Server menu or Dedicated Hypervisor menu.
If the customer selects Oracle SE2 menu, the number of physical CPU sockets will be used for license fee charge. If the customer selects Oracle EE menu, the number of physical CPU cores will be used for license fee charge.
It does not matter if the baremetal server was used for virtual environment. With physical CPU charge, baremetal server’s physical CPU will be the target of charge even if its used as a virtual environment.
When a virtual environment is used and an Oracle SE2 virtual server and an Oracle EE virtual server coexist on a physical server, the physical server is treated as using Oracle EE.
In the same baremetal server cluster, it cannot be used together with vCPU charge.
