10.8. Global Server Load Balance (Global Traffic Managemnet)

10.8.1. Overview

10.8.1.1. Overview

Global Server Load Balance (Global Traffic Management) can use Load Balance Service provided by Akamai Technologies, Inc., and provides control functions of communication to servers in multiple sites.
Rule-based load balancing will become possible by redirecting end user’s access FQDN to this menu.
(Global Server Load Balance (Global Traffic Management) will be described as “this menu” or GSLB (GTM) hereafter.)

GTM Concept

10.8.1.2. Features

Following are the features of this menu:

1.It provides stable infrastructure with large-scale distributed platforms
Use of platforms distributed in 26 countries and over 195 sites helps to secure availability withstanding massive DDoS attacks.
With dispersed DNS, a server closer to the end user gives responses, which will promise faster responses than Appliance services on a single site.

2.Reduction of vulnerability risks by originally developed software
As originally developed software is applied to DNS servers, a secure environment is available where vulnerability information that general BIND has as DNS software is not applicable as is.

3.It provides traffic management functions that fit customers’ needs
A traffic sorting architecture that meets customer’s purpose of use can be selected by Failover function, IP Intelligence function and Weight function.
