5.1. Utilizing the Virtual Server


5.1.1. Operating the Virtual Server

Following is the procedure for operating the virtual server.
1. Click the vApp to which the virtual server belongs to be operated on the Manage Enterprise Cloud screen.
(Click [1] because the vApp to which the virtual server to be operated this time belongs is [test_vApp].)

2. The management screen for vApp and virtual server (Actions tab) appears.
(The Manage Virtual Server screen (the area surrounded by the thick line) appears. The Manage vApp screen appears at the upper portion of the screen (the area other than the area surrounded by the thick line).)

Note

  • There are same function buttons in vApp and Virtual Machine, please power off following procedure for safety. First, Shutdown (Stop), next push Power Off please.

b Power off Turn OFF the virtual server. If this operation is performed while the the virtual server is turned ON, power supply of the vApp is forcibly turned OFF; therefore failure of guest OS and database may occur due to damage of data.
c Reboot Reboot the guest OS on the virtual server.
d Reset Turn Off the virtual server, then turn the virtual server ON.* The virtual server is turned OFF forcibly; therefore failure of the file system of data disk and guest OS may occur when using this function.
e Shutdown Shut down the guest OS on the virtual server.
f Suspend Suspend the status of the power supply of the virtual server.
g Console Open the screen for connecting the virtual server to console.
h Console(HTML) Open the screen for connecting the virtual server to console (HTML version).
i Guest Tools Mount the CD-ROM image on which the VMware Tools installer is recorded.
j Customization Enable the Guest Customization.

* VMware Plug-in installation is not necessary when you use Console Connectivity (HTML version). If you want to use the ISO Image Mount Feature, you need to upload the ISO image to the private catalog in advance.
* Status of Guest Customaization can be checked with the following icon displays.

m Check Hardware Version Open the screen for confirming the hardware version of your virtual server/ the latest hardware version supported on virtual server infrastructure.
n Upgrade Hardware Version Open the screen for upgrading the hardware version of your virtual server to the latest hardware version supported on virtual server infrastructure.
o Enable Alerts
Enable the alert function of the virtual server.
* This item appears after “k” operation: Install Monitoring when INA is used.
p Backup Open the screen for setting the backup service.

5.1.2. Referring the Virtual Server


5.1.2.1. Referring the Virtual Server (Configuration Information)

Following is the procedure for checking the configuration information of the virtual server.
1. Click the vApp to which the virtual server to be referred belongs on the Manage Enterprise Cloud screen.
(Click [1] because the vApp to which the virtual server to be referred this time belongs is [test_vApp].)

2. Click [2] on the management screen for vApp and virtual server (Actions tab).
(The Manage Virtual Server screen (the area surrounded by the thick line) appears. The Manage vApp screen appears at the upper portion of the screen (the area other than the area surrounded by the thick line).)

3. The Manage Virtual Server screen (Configuration tab) appears.

5.1.2.3. Referring the Virtual Server (vNICs)

Following is the procedure for checking information related to vNIC of the virtual server.

3. Select the title of the graph to be referred from the lit displayed in the pulldown menu.
(Click [3] because the graph to be referred this time is [vCPU Usage (%)].)

Click [4] to export data as a CSV file.

5.1.3. Editing the Virtual Server


5.1.3.1. Editing the Virtual Server (Configuration Information)

Following is the procedure for editing the configuration information of the virtual server.
1. Click the vApp to which the virtual server to be referred belongs on the Manage Enterprise Cloud screen.
(Click [1] because the vApp to which the virtual server to be edited this time belongs is [test_vApp].)

3. The Manage Virtual Server screen (Configure tab) appears. After entering the necessary parameters, click [3].

* Edited contents are not reflected when moving to other tab without saving the edited contents. Therefore, be sure to save changes for each tab.

Important

  • Socket of vCPU can be specified only with the corresponding data center. Refer to the function manual of Enterprise Cloud service.

4. Confirm that the virtual server is edited. Click [4].

5. The Manage Tasks screen appears. Confirm that the status of the task of the virtual server to be checked is “Completed” and then click [5].
(Click [5] because the virtual server, which was edited this time, is [test_VM].)

6. Click [6] to check the further detailed information of the task.

5.1.3.2. Editing the Virtual Server (vNICs)

Following is the procedure for editing vNICs of the virtual server.

2. The Manage Virtual Server screen (vNICs tab) appears. After entering the necessary parameters, click [2].

Adding vNICs
Following is the procedure for adding the vNICs to be newly connected to the server segment.
1. Click [1] on the management screen for vApp and virtual server (Actions tab).

2. The Manage Virtual Server screen (vNICs tab) appears. Click [2].

3. After inputting the necessary parameters, click [3].
* Edited contents are not reflected when moving to other tab without saving the edited contents. Therefore, be sure to save changes for each tab.
To confirm that the virtual server is edited, refer to “steps 4, 5 and 6 in 5.1.3.1.Editing the Virtual Server”.

Deleting vNICs
Following is the procedure for deleting vNICs.
1. Click [1] on the management screen for vApp and virtual server (Actions tab).

2. The Manage Virtual Server screen (vNICs tab) appears. Click [2].
* If only one vNIC is retained by the virtual server, the vNIC cannot be deleted. vNIC can be deleted only if 2 to 8 vNICs are retained.

3. The Warning screen appears. Check the warning and then click [3].

5.1.3.3. Editing the Virtual Server (Disk)

Following is the procedure for editing the disk of the virtual server.

Changing the Disk
Following is the procedure for changing the disk capacity.
1. Click [1] on the management screen for vApp and virtual server (Actions tab).

2. The Manage Virtual Server screen (Disk tab) appears. After inputting the necessary parameters, click [2].
* Refer to the following table (input rule applied on the Disk tab) for input rules applied on each item.

Deleting the Disk
Following is the procedure for deleting the disk.
