4.1. Using vApp


4.1.1. Operating vApp

Following is the procedure for operating vApp.
1. Click the vApp to be operated on the Manage Enterprise Cloud screen.
(Click [1] because the Compute Resource Pool to be operated this time is [test_pool].)

2. The management screen for vApp and virtual server (Actions tab) appears.
* The Manage vApp screen (the area surrounded by the thick line) appears. The Manage Virtual Server screen appears at the upper portion of the screen (the area other than the area surrounded by the thick line).
Refer to the following table (information that can be referred with the Actions tab) for contents to be displayed for each item.

a Start Turn ON the vApp.
b Power off Turn Off the vApp. If this operation is performed while the vApp is turned ON, power supply of the vApp is forcibly turned OFF; therefore failure of guest OS and database may occur due to damage of data.
c Reboot Reboot the guest OS on vApp.
d Reset Turn Off the vApp, then turn the vApp ON.* The vApp is turned OFF forcibly; therefore failure of the file system of data disk and guest OS may occur when using this function.
e Stop Shut down the guest OS on the vApp.
f Suspend Suspend the power supply of the vApp.
g Delete Delete vApp.
h Template Create the template of vApp in the private catalog area.

4.1.2. Referring vApp


4.1.2.1. Referring vApp (Configuration Information)

Following is the procedure for referring vApp configuration information.
1. Click the vApp to be referred on the Manage Enterprise Cloud screen.
(Click [1] because the Compute Resource Pool to be referred this time is [test_vApp].)

2. The management screen for vApp and virtual server (Actions tab) appears. Click [2].

4.1.2.2. Referring vApp (Network)

4.1.2.3. Referring the RvApp (Overview)

Following is the procedure for referring overview of vApp.

image54 Suspended The status where operation is temporarily stopped Unlike suspension, sleep and hibernation of the guest OS, the power supply is put into this status by the function at the Cloud infrastructure side.

4.1.3. Adding vApp

Following is the procedure for adding vApp.
1. Place the cursor at [1] on the Manage Enterprise Cloud screen and click [2].

2. The Add vApp screen appears. After inputting the necessary parameters, click [3].
* Please note that the billing amount will be changed.
* Refer to the following table (input rule applied on the Add vApp screen) for input rules for each item.

f Text box/ slide box These items are used for inputting or specifying the vCPU (number of cores per socket) used by vApp. Mandatory Only half-width digits can be input. However, the decimal point cannot be input.
g Text box/ slide box These items are used for inputting or specifying the memory capacity (GB) used by vApp. Mandatory Only half-width digits can be input. However, the decimal point cannot be input.
h Pulldown menu This item is used for the destination server segment of vNIC. Mandatory None
i Radio button This item can be used for selecting vNIC configured as Primary vNIC. Mandatory This item is used for selecting one vNIC connected to the server segment.
j Pulldown menu
This item is used for selecting the IP address configured for vNIC.
* If “Auto Assign” is selected, the IP address is configured with automatic assignment.
Mandatory The IP address is selected from Available IPs.

Important

  • You will be billed from the time the virtual server was created when there is a paid OS license in the template that we offer. A monthly invoice will sent to you even if the virtual server is deleted as the billing is on a monthly basis. Please be reminded that a monthly fee will incur again if, for some reason, the virtual server is recreated.
  • The guest OS customization for the initial startup will normally take roughly 30 minutes. Please do not operate the virtual server during this start up.
  • Socket of vCPU can be specified only with the corresponding data center. Refer to the function manual of Enterprise Cloud service.
* Identification name and description of vApp are applied to the virtual server as default.
Add the following steps A and B when providing the identification name and description different from those of vApp to the virtual server.
Go to step 3 if this setting is not necessary.
* Only one vNIC Setting Input field appears as default; however a maximum of 8 vNIC Setting Input fields can be displayed.
When setting multiple vNICs, add the following steps C and D.
Go to step 3 if this setting is not necessary.
A. Click [4] on the Add vApp screen.

B. After entering the necessary parameters, click [5].

3. Confirm that vApp is added. Click [8].

4. The Manage Tasks screen appears. Confirm that the status of the task of the vApp to be checked is “Completed” and then click [9].
(Click [9] because the Compute Resource Pool, which was added this time, is [test_vApp].)

5. Click [10] to check the further detailed information of the task.

If you need monitoring for Virtual Machine belonging to the vApp when Integrated Network Appliance is used, please carry out the following procedure.
6. After added vApp, please click [11] the first before power on. Monitoring setting will be added in Integrated Network Appliance.

7. Please click [12], monitoring for Virtual Machine will start.

4.1.4. Editing the vApp

Following is the procedure for editing vApp.
1. Click the vApp to be edited on the Manage Enterprise Cloud screen.
(Click [1] because the vApp to be edited this time is [test_vApp].)

2. The management screen for vApp and virtual server (Actions tab) appears. Click [2].

3. The Manage vApp screen (Configuration tab) appears. After inputting the necessary parameters, click [3].
* Refer to the following table (input rule applied on the Configuration tab) for input rules applied for each item.
* Identification name and description of vApp are applied to the virtual server as default unless specific steps for creating vApp are followed. However, the identification name of vApp is not applied to the virtual server when editing.

4. Confirm that vApp is edited. Click [4].

4.1.5. Deleting the vApp

Following is the procedure for deleting vApp.
1. Click the vApp to be deleted on the Manage Enterprise Cloud screen.
(Click [1] because the vApp to be deleted this time is [test_vApp].)

Important

  • Information about vAPP (virtual server) cannot be deleted when it has been registered in vFireWall, vLoadBalancer and Integrated Network Appliance. In advance, you must exclude from the setting.

3. The Warning screen appears. Check the warning and then click [3].
