Overview

Overview of Menu

  • Enterprise Cloud (hereinafter referred as “ECL1.0”) provides the public template of Ubuntu that can be used in the customer’s server environment.

Features of Menu

  • On-demand
    Customer can create the public template of Ubuntu in the customer’s compute pool via customer portal or API.
  • Cost
    Both initial cost and monthly fee are free of charge.

Available Functions

Public Template

Public template provided in this menu can be used in the following compute pool.

List of Functions

Functions that are provided with the public template of Ubuntu are as follows.

Function Name Overview
Default User Name User name of OS is set by using the default value of this menu.
Setting of Default User Password Password at the initial login using the user name of OS varies depending on servers.
Locale Setting The specified values in this menu are set for Timezone / Language / Character code / Locale / Keyboard in OS.
Security Setting Security setting of OS (iptables/SELinux) is set by using the specified value of this menu.
SSH Setting Setting of sshd conf of OS is set with the specified value of this menu.
Other Settings The specified values of this menu are set for initial state of OS/ additional PKG / repository/ IPv6 / NTP / DNS / default gateway.

Description of Each Function

Setting of Default User Name

Setting of default user name and privilege of default user are as follows.

*1 The configuration that the root user cannot log in to SSH is adopted.
*2 We set a random password for the “ubuntu” account.

Setting of Default User Password

Password of root is notified with the secure message on the Customer Portal after deployment when setting the default password of root.
For the “ubuntu” user, the “ubuntu” account can be used by changing the password by using the “passwd ubuntu” command after logging in as the root user.
- Note
As for the password of “ubuntu” user, the default password that we generate randomly is set. Therefore, we recommend changing the password based on the customer’s security policy immediately after deployment.

Locale Setting

Time setting, locale setting and keyboard layout are as follows.

SSH Setting

Locations where setting of sshd conf of the server is changed are as follows.

Creation of Initial SSH Host Key
We delete the initial SSH host key in the template state to create a different host key in each virtual server at the time of initial activation.
Therefore, we perform the following setting to create a correct host key at the time of initial activation.
The following command is described in /etc/rc.local and the command is automatically executed when starting the virtual server.
test -f /etc/ssh/ssh_host_dsa_key || dpkg-reconfigure openssh-server
Note: If this setting is changed, SSH connection may not be established properly.

Inquiry and Support

  • We support default setting of Ubuntu and initial login to Ubuntu.
  • Although customer can add/change OS and application and freely combine by designing the deployed OS template by themselves, support for combination with customer’s design, build and other ECL1.0 menus is not provided in this menu.
  • For inquiry method, make an inquiry according to the flow described in Enterprise Cloud 1.0 Service Functional Description.

  • Minimum usage period is not provided for this menu.

Items that Need to be Prepared in Advance

  • To access to the repository server, Internet connection menu is required separately.

Monitoring

Monitoring and operation are not performed in this menu.
Alive monitoring can be done by enabling the Ping monitoring function.
